Julie Lawless is the Director of Human Resources at Northwest Community Schools. She has worked in HR for 20+ years with a goal to defy the stigma of HR professionals being the 'bad people' by encouraging transparency, positivity and inclusion. Julie stays focused on the positive which is one of the Core Values at Northwest and she supports a culture of positivity throughout the entire organization.

Julie began a job in HR by happenstance many years ago and it became a career that she love. She has worked in a variety of industries including automotive, healthcare and education. She has degrees in Human Resources Management and Business Administration, a SHRM-CP certification as well as an HR Specialist Certification from the Michigan School Business Officials (MSBO).

"Although I am proud of my professional accomplishments, my greatest accomplishment has been becoming a wife to my amazing husband Jeff, proud mother of five, Grammy (my favorite title) to six beautiful grandbabies, one angel grandbaby, and one on the way. In my spare time it is my greatest blessing to spend as much time as possible with my family making memories or reading a good book! I also enjoy being actively involved in my church with my church family. "

FAVORITE MOVIE: Grease, my aunt snuck me into the drive-in to see Grease when I was younger and that memory and love for the movie has stuck with me for years. However, I do also love Christmas movies and watch them year round if I can get away with it.

FAVORITE VACATION SPOT: Indian Rocks Beach is my happy place!

PETS: I have two Boxers, Bruiser and Skye.

SOMETHING MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU: I am the proud owner of a food trailer, which was purchased to give my amazing husband the opportunity to do what he loves as he retired from his day job after 32 years. Yes, I am officially my husband's BOSS, isn't that fun! It is a rewarding and challenging adventure!
