In this session you will learn about the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and its impact on employment and accessibility to public facilities for persons with disabilities. The specialists from MRS’s Business Network Division (BND) will also discuss the reasonable accommodation process and some of the emerging issues related to this in employment.
Speaker Bios:
Christine Roberts, Business Relations Consultant for the Ann Arbor District of Michigan Rehabilitation Services. Her background is in occupational therapy, community practice and traumatic brain injury. She is an ADA Coordinator and her professional areas of interest include effective accommodations processes in the workplace and workplace routines to enhance an inclusive business culture. She has transferred her clinical assessment skills to working with businesses to provide these services and provide effective disability employment resources and education for the businesses in her region. Christine is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Master’s of Occupational Therapy and Bachelor's of Science.
Lisa Stanley is a Business Relations Consultant with the Business Network Division (BND). Her professional interests focus on serving unserved populations as well as enhancing relationships with businesses and community partners. Lisa is skilled at facilitating disability awareness training, employee retention and recruitment of special populations. Lisa provides services throughout the Southwest District/Region 8 which includes: Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Benton Harbor including their surrounding areas. Lisa enjoys educating and advocating for underserved populations and disadvantaged families to experience equal opportunities. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Family Life Education as well as a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. She is also a Certified Business Solutions Professional (CBSP).
